Report: Moldova expects audit of debt to Gazprom finished in Jan
CHISINAU, Oct 5 (PRIME) -- Results of an audit of Moldovan distribution company Moldovagaz’ historic debt to Russian gas giant Gazprom will be clear until the end of January, Moldovan Infrastructure Minister Andrei Spinu said late on Tuesday in a broadcast of Vocea Basarabiei radio station.
Earlier in the day, Gazprom said that it could stop pumping to Moldova immediately if the country fails to pay for gas until October 20 or any moment because it had missed the October 1 deadline for debt audit, the contract for which was only signed in August.
“The audit is going on, the companies were chosen, the contract was signed. Moldovagaz provided the initial information, the companies are working, and the results should appear until the end of January. We will reach an agreement on settlement of the historic debt,” Spinu said.
